though brian seidman only moved to portland 3 years ago he has become a pillar of the local music community; booking shows, playing in local bands cleaning and fox academy, and generally being one of the most supportive folks here in pdx. his mainstay project, tough boy, usually finds brian in a pop oriented headspace, surrounded by drum machines, synths and processed guitar. while some songs on "sweetness" do fit that mold, many of them branch out; maintaining the hooks and melody of pop but providing organic instrumentation like clean guitar and drums and slowing the tempo allowing for some deeply reflective moments. collaborations from members of locals fox academy, canary room, ancient pools, scone and skyler pia fill out the songs. this collection is tough boy's most accomplished effort to date and i could not be more excited to share it with yall.
