Layperson is the long running musical project of Portland diy lifer Julian Morris. There is a depth and clarity of emotion that pours from Morris's song craft that is incredibly unique. On Massive Leaning, his deeply personal songs are elevated greatly by Morris's production and instrumental choices. Lush is an understatement for these impeccable arrangements of rock instrumentation augmented by synthesizers, drum machines and pedal steel (the latter performed by Morris's friends Sam Wenc and Alex Fermanis). Melodically, Morris's songs are deep earworms, cathartic and emotional hooks that stick with the listener long after the record leaves the turn table. It's my pleasure to help welcome you into Layperson's world with Massive Leaning.
