Cradle Tape is the debut full length record from Portland based songwriter Chitra Subrahmanyam's project Phone Voice. She operates largely in the tradition of pnw bands of yore (Elliot Smith, Carissa's Wierd, Quasi, etc.) sometimes hammering out a chugging rock stomper and other times beckoning you close to hear the quiet eccentricities of a song. Having played all the instruments (with the exception of bass) this is a stunner of a debut full length from someone who has really done their research on pnw indie. I can't wait to hear more.
